Rare High-Quality Indonesian Blue Opal Petrified Wood Polished Slab with Natural Copper Inclusions (13409)
High-quality Indonesian blue and green opal petrified wood, with metallic copper inclusions, polished to a beautiful shine on both sides. High quality pieces like this are now becoming mined-out, difficult to find, and expensive. We searched our inventory and are selling our last pieces of material that are ready to sell. We have several pieces that are not yet polished and will be offering those later this year.
Indonesian blue petrified wood formed when volcanic ash, mud and debris destroyed and buried trees and tree branches. Over millions of years, groundwater that is saturated with silica, copper and other elements seeped through the debris and into the wood, replacing the wood structure with brightly colored silica. Because of the high copper content in the water, many of the petrified wood pieces also have native copper (copper metal) inclusions. This beautiful piece has those copper metal inclusions.
