Description
Specularite from the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan is a sparkling variety of hematite characterized by its thin, silvery-gray, highly reflective crystals and flakes. Its mirror-like luster gives the mineral its name, and specimens can display a striking metallic sheen when viewed under light. Keweenaw specularite is associated with the region’s famous copper-bearing deposits and makes an attractive addition to mineral collections for its bright metallic appearance and distinctive crystal habit.
This piece has one side that has been cut and sealed with resin. The reverse side in in the natural raw state. The sparkly hematite from the raw side will leave some flakes on your hands, wash hands thoroughly after handling.
