Description
This piece has reddish garnets on snow-white albite mother-rock. There is minor mica and Quartz.
It is from the area’s famous gemstone-bearing granite pegmatites, near Skardu in the Shigar Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan in northern Pakistan.
In this region, much of the mining is done in thousands of small hand-worked digs.
