Description
Beautiful, highly lustrous pink heulandite fans with cubic calcite in a trimmed-out pocket of volcanic basalt rock with gray botryoidal chalcedony lining the trimmed-out pocket. This is a spectacular heulandite fan specimen. This piece is from the famous zeolite locality in the Jalgaon District, Nashik Division, Maharashtra, India.
The heulandite and calcite are both fluorescent with 365nm long wave UV. Very brief phosphorescence in the calcite crystals.
Size: 50 x 50 x 50 mm, 126 grams.
Heulandite was named in 1822 after John Henry Heuland, a mineral collector and mineral dealer living in England.
