Red Hematite Double Phantom Sunset Quartz Dow Crystal - Tamil Nadu, India

Hold a slice of deep geologic time in your hands. This double phantom Tamil Nadu quartz formed over half a billion years ago, long before plants, animals, or anything familiar existed. Its hematite phantoms record shifting conditions in superheated, iron‑rich hydrothermal fluids: a dense, dark hematite layer from a high‑oxygen pulse, followed by a lighter “dust” phantom from a weaker one. These phantoms aren’t surface features — they’re ancient chemical signatures sealed during growth, a rare, clear record of a changing Precambrian world preserved inside quartz for over 600 million years

This crystal is a dow crystal with 7,3,7,3,7,3 sided faces. One face has a unique, natural “window” to the crystal where the hematite phantom is visible in a small pocket area. 

This crystal has a few dings along the edges, and at the tip, as expected from a specimen this old.
