Description
This piece has orange garnets on a mother-rock. It is from the area’s famous gemstone-bearing granite pegmatites, near Skardu in the Shigar Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan in northern Pakistan.
There is a surface crack that does not penetrate the entire thickness.
In this region, much of the mining is done in thousands of small hand-worked digs.
