Description

This is a lot of THREE specimens of Athyris Spiriferiodes, a brachiopod from the Middle Devonian Windom Shale of Western New York. These fossils are the remains of an organism that lived in the sediment at the bottom of the shallow sea that covered Western New York 380 million years ago. You will receive THREE specimens similar to the size and condition as the pieces shown in the photos.

The fossils were freed from the Windom Shale by the action of the waves along the south shore of Lake Erie, so they are beach tumbled. They were given a light coating of sealant to protect the fossil. These fossils are an actual piece of the Earth's distant past, and they are perfect for starting or rounding-out a fossil collection.

Each specimen is 2 to 3 cm x 1 cm and 8 to 15 grams.
