Description

Honey yellow cubic fluorite crystal cluster with white dolomite from the famous Moscona Mine in Spain

This is a gorgeous piece of crystal clear, honey yellow fluorite from the famous Moscona Mine, El Pontón de Solís, Corvera de Asturias, Asturias, Spain.  These honey yellow cubic crystals are very bright and transparent and display a spectacular, intergrown cubic habit, measuring up to 1 cm on edge. This is typical of the fluorite found in this area. The surface of this piece is adorned by clusters of small, white rhombohedral crystals of dolomite with a classic "saddle"-like shape.

Under long wave UV light, the piece fluoresces yellow from below the base of the crystals with a light purple fluorescence illuminating the outer portions of the crystals. The outer edges and surfaces of the fluorite crystals fluoresce bright, brilliant yellow. Under short wave UV, the piece displays a translucent pistachio green/yellow fluorescence, with the outer edges and surfaces of the fluorite crystals fluorescing a duller yellow. The piece is phosphorescence under both long wave and short waveUV light.

73X43x43 mm and 130 grams.

A classic piece from this famous fluorite locality.
