Description
This rare and mesmerizing agate hails from the remote stretches of the Gobi Desert, where wind, time, and mineral-rich sands have shaped these stones into smooth, naturally tumbled forms over thousands of years. What sets this piece apart is its visible moving sand inclusions, a surreal effect only revealed when held to the light. Backlit, you'll see fine grains of desert sand shifting within internal chambers, like a miniature hourglass.
Size: 34 x 30 x 14 mm. 14 grams.
Gobi Desert Agates form through aeons of tumbling in harsh, arid conditions-creating their signature matte, frosted exteriors. These agates are typically composed of microcrystalline quartz (chalcedony) and are often semi-translucent, with soft neutrals, warm browns, or smoky tones. The sand inclusions are extremely rare and occur when microscopic cavities or hollow channels trap native desert sand inside during formation.
