Description

Bright native copper exposures contrast with deep teal-blue, and turquoise mineralization in this colorful Garut specimen. Native copper ribbons and patches follow an irregular network across the display face, accompanied by broader lavender-gray metallic-looking areas.

Open cavities reveal pale green interiors and add depth to the polished surface. The irregular outline and contrast between the colorful mineralized zone and gray volcanic matrix give the piece a distinctive appearance.

The blue-green material is consistent with chrysocolla-bearing silica, potentially including chalcedony and common opal. The associated lavender-gray and dark constituents remain unidentified and may include additional copper minerals or alteration products.

The volcanic host is interpreted as altered tuff. The reverse retains a rough matrix surface with green mineralization. A visible fracture crosses the gray matrix on the right side of the display face, but appears stable.

Held in Old Earth Minerals’ inventory for approximately five years, this piece is now being offered for sale.
