Description

A concentrated copper-bearing center stands out against vivid blue and teal mineralization in this Garut specimen. Native copper metallic patches and fine branching forms mingle with lavender-gray and black material, creating an intricate pattern within the gray-green volcanic host.

The dark central region is an important part of the specimen’s mineral assemblage. Copper exposures interspersed with gray metallic-looking borders and darker, finely textured material. This region may include additional copper minerals, alteration products, and dark siliceous material.

The surrounding blue-green material is consistent with chrysocolla-bearing silica, potentially including chalcedony and common opal. Native copper is indicated by the characteristic copper-metallic exposures. The lavender-gray and black accessory constituents have not been laboratory identified.

The polished face contrasts with a rough reverse containing green-blue mineralization and open cavities. The volcanic host is interpreted as altered tuff.

Held in Old Earth Minerals’ inventory for approximately five years, this specimen is now being offered for sale.
