Description

Fine copper-colored outlines trace an elaborate flame-shaped mineral assemblage in this polished Garut specimen. Deep blue and teal areas alternate with lavender-gray, and near-black portions, accented by white borders and small orange patches. The sharply defined central pattern contrasts with a mottled olive-green and gray volcanic matrix.

The blue-green mineralization is consistent with chrysocolla-bearing silica, potentially including chalcedony and common opal. Native copper is indicated by copper-metallic exposures within the branching network. Some adjoining metallic-looking material has a lavender-gray appearance and remains unidentified.

The dark portions within the flame-shaped center may include colored silica and associated copper minerals; they have not been established as one mineral or simply tarnished copper.

Small cavities near the upper edge reveal pale green and cream-colored mineral surfaces, adding texture to the polished display face. The volcanic host is interpreted as altered tuff.

Held in Old Earth Minerals’ inventory for approximately five years, this piece is now being offered for sale. “Copper Flame” describes its distinctive pattern.
