This stunning radial amethyst crystal "flower" comes from the renowned amethyst mines of Ametista do Sul, in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Pristine amethyst crystals radiate around a patch of micro crystals.
Amethyst crystal flowers from Ametista do Sul formed over hundreds of thousands (or even millions) of years. They formed when silica-saturated groundwater filled the narrow fissures in the basaltic volcanic rocks of the Serra Geral Formation (Lower Cretaceous in age). These beautiful amethyst crystals slowly precipitated from the silica-rich groundwater in a radial pattern in the narrow voids.
The amethyst crystal flowers are found only in a handful of places on Earth, and the limited locations and difficulty to collect intact make these a rare treat, for both mineral collectors and "philosophers of the unseen." We don't think you'll find finer pieces available on the web.
