Description
An attractive cluster of lustrous brown to subtly violet-brown axinite-(Fe) crystals from the Shigar Valley region of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. The specimen features several sharp, wedge-shaped crystals with strong vitreous luster, pronounced striations, and excellent translucency along thinner crystal edges.
The largest crystals contrast nicely with a pale feldspar and quartz matrix, with minor natural iron-oxide staining adding additional color and texture. The crystal habit is especially appealing, showing the distinctive flattened, oblique form characteristic of axinite.
This is a very displayable small-cabinet specimen with strong crystal presence, good contrast, and attractive color under direct lighting.
Size: 55 x 40 x 20 mm. 38 grams
